Millwork
We process our lumber, or your lumber, in one of our two millwork facilities. Our most-frequently requested services are edging, planing, trimming, and shaping rough cut lumber. We also specialize in shou sugi ban, a Japanese burning technique for making wood more weather resistant.
Overview of Process: Millwork From Your Logs
If we mill over 400 board feet of lumber from your logs, then we can process it in one of our millwork facilities. From either green or dry, we will edge your boards to make them perfectly square. Once we have dry boards, either through air or kiln drying, we can also plane, trim and shape your lumber. Planing gets your lumber into a consistent thickness and/or creates a smooth surface. Trimming involves cutting the end into a perfect 90 angle at a specific length. And shaping involves putting a specific edge profile, such as tongue and groove or shiplap, on your boards.
Overview of Process: Millwork On Our Lumber
If you just need lumber, and not custom milling, we can sell you kiln-dried boards finished into whatever thickness, length, width, or profile that you need.
Millwork: Pricing
Each step of millwork costs $1 per board foot. Clients mix and match millwork services based on their needs. If you’re installing 400 square feet of rough cut siding, then you may want us to edge the boards, which adds $400. If you need those boards planed, and then shaped with tongue-and-groove profiles, then that adds $2 per board foot.
